Today, we are going to explore the area of cybersecurity👮 for small businesses.

 Cybersecurity is the process of reducing the risk of a cyber-attack. Its main function is to protect the devices, services and hard drives that organisations use from theft, damage or viruses.

Keeping a small business protected from cyber-attacks is very important. A cyber security incident can have many negative impacts for a business. These include data breaches, loss of clients, lost productivity, brand reputation and many more.

An interesting stat that I read the other day stated that 60% of small businesses that suffer from a cyberattack shut down within six months after the incident.😲💥 This highlights how important it is for a small business to focus on cybersecurity.

Here are some cybersecurity tips for a small business:💡

1.      Train employees in the area of cybersecurity.  Make them aware of scam emails and other ways they may be targeted by cyber attackers.

2.      Have an antivirus software on all company devices. This well help detect any viruses and protect devices from hackers.

3.      Make sure to constantly back up files. This way if anything does happen the latest back up of the file can be recovered and all data is not lost.

4.      Have a strong password policy. All employees should create strong passwords which can not be easily guessed especially if their device stores sensitive information. Ensure that all employees reset their passwords every few weeks.
