Introduction to Me

Hello Everyone!๐Ÿ˜Š

Welcome to my first ever Blog๐ŸŽ‰

My name is Sinead and I am a 22 year old college student from the south east of Ireland. I attend the South East Technological University in Waterford (SETU) where I am studying the Bachelor of Business Studies with a specialism in Human Resource Management. I am currently in my fourth and final year of my studies and I hope to be able to graduate in 2025 all things going well.

I am a sporty person๐Ÿƒ.My hobbies mainly include sports. I love to play camogie and ladies gaelic football and some might even say that my life revolves around these two sports. When I’m not playing sport, I can be found in the gym, running around my local gaa pitch, training our under 18 camogie team or watching a GAA match. As you can probably tell I am GAA mad!๐Ÿ˜‚

I also have another hobby which is not quite as hectic as the GAA world. I play traditional Irish music๐ŸŽถ and more specifically the tin whistle and fiddle ๐ŸŽป.

Well that's enough about me, lets get down to the reason why i am writing this blog in the first place.

As part of my final year in college, I am doing a module called Digital Economy. This module requires me to write weekly blogs regarding areas in the digital economy. So, every week I will publish a blog based on a topic in this module. I have never written a blog before so I am excited to see how this will go and I hope you will stick with me for this journey where we can explore and learn more about the digital economy together.

But for now, Thank you for reading and I hope you come back next week for more! ๐Ÿ˜

Bye!๐Ÿ‘‹

What do you think, Yes or No. Read on to find out if you are right. Hello everyone and Welcome back to my blog.๐Ÿ˜€ Today we are looking at whether the southeast of Ireland is a good place for tech companies to invest in. The southeast of Ireland is becoming a very attractive place for tech companies to invest in and is currently the home of many established tech companies such as Datapac, Innovate, Sonru, Netwatch, Redhat and TSSG. Below are some reasons why these firms decided to invest in the Southeast of Ireland. Reason Number One: Ireland’s Southeast has the fastest growing economy in Europe. According to ISEDO the Southeast of Ireland was ranked first as the most competitive region in Ireland. The CSO also named the location as Number one in productivity growth in Ireland from 2010 to 2017. Reason Number Two: The southeast has cheaper financial costs๐Ÿ’ธ for a company compared to Dublin. This means a tech company can have more money to be flexible with and in turn he...

Cybersecurity for Small Businesses

Hello everyone!๐Ÿ‘‹ Welcome back to my eight & final blog.๐Ÿ˜†   Today, we are going to explore the area of cybersecurity๐Ÿ‘ฎ for small businesses.   Cybersecurity is the process of reducing the risk of a cyber-attack. Its main function is to protect the devices, services and hard drives that organisations use from theft, damage or viruses. Keeping a small business protected from cyber-attacks is very important. A cyber security incident can have many negative impacts for a business. These include data breaches, loss of clients, lost productivity, brand reputation and many more. An interesting stat that I read the other day stated that 60% of small businesses that suffer from a cyberattack shut down within six months after the incident.๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ’ฅ This highlights how important it is for a small business to focus on cybersecurity. Here are some cybersecurity tips for a small business:๐Ÿ’ก 1.       Train employees in the area of cybersecurity. ...
